I‘m Loise Makena, and I’m excited to share a little bit about who I am and what drives me in the world of geospatial solutions. My journey has been defined by a passion for precision, innovation and a commitment to integrating engineering with environmental sustainability.
I am a highly skilled and dedicated Geomatic Engineer with extensive expertise in surveying, mapping and geospatial technologies. My strong academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Geomatic Engineering and Geospatial Information Systems from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. Currently, I’m pursuing a Master of Arts in Environment and Natural Resources Law at the University of Nairobi, further solidifying my commitment to sustainable practices within my field.
Since 2016, I’ve had the privilege of leading Geosurveys and Geospatial Information Limited as both its Managing Director and Project Manager. Our consulting firm specializes in surveying and mapping services across Kenya and East Africa. Under my leadership, the firm has seen significant growth, expanding our offerings to include cadastral and engineering surveys, GIS & Remote Sensing, urban and regional planning and environmental consulting.
I’ve had the opportunity to successfully lead numerous high-impact projects, demonstrating my capabilities in diverse areas such as cadastral surveying and titling of land parcels across Kenya, sectional surveys, engineering surveys for utility designs (like drainage and roads), mapping of waste recyclers for waste management and developing GIS-based spatial plans for agricultural resilience.
I am a registered full member of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya. I am widely recognized for my technical proficiency, strong leadership and innovative approach to geospatial solutions. My work frequently involves collaboration with government ministries, international organizations, and private sector clients, all contributing to sustainable development and efficient land management.
My passion for precision and my ability to effectively steer project delivery are aspects I take great pride in, and they continue to drive me as a respected professional in my field.
